What does good advocacy look like?
On Friday 9 May, the Scottish Arts and Humanities Alliance ran a joint event with the School of Advanced Study at the Royal Society of Edinburgh to explore how the arts and humanities can more effectively advocate for their importance to our society, economy and culture.
Professor Jo Fox chaired a panel with former Scottish Government Minister Professor Michael Russell, Professor Sarah Prescott (The University of Edinburgh) and Professor Jane Ohlmeyer (she/her) (Trinity College Dublin). The panel reflected on the importance of crafting compelling narratives, building strong relationships, and speaking with one voice.
The panel was followed by a workshop in which participants designed activities that made the case for the humanities in a variety of contexts.
