The Arts and Humanities are central to all aspects of modern life. They help us to understand the present and the past, and their insights allow us to plan for a better future.

Fiona is Professor of History, in the Department of Social Sciences in the School for Business and Society at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her research interests concern the history of sport, gender and popular culture. Her work has explored the influence which dominant discourses concerning gender and modernity had on women’s sport and popular culture during the late 19th and 20th centuries. Recent work has included the FIFA-funded Mapping women’s football history in Scotland 1880-1939.
